Search for activities

When you are in Estepona for your holidays, then you will encounter many possibilities for various excursions. Not more than an hour by car and you will reach all kinds of different towns or villages.

Marbella

Marbella, the capital from Costa del Sol is eastbound at 25km from Estepona. One either takes the National Road N340 or the motorway. In either case, the distance will be covered in approx. 25 mins.

When in Marbella, go and visit the Marina, the Alameda, the main shopping street and the old town. For even more glamour and luxury, drop in Puerto Banus, where the yachts of the rich are competing with each other, or stroll down the Boulevard of Fame, or along the quays, or go and see a film in one of its cinemas.

Sotogrande

Sotogrande is a luxurious urbanisation of San Roque in Cadiz province, located at approx. 50km from Estepona. Here you can go to play golf on one of the luxurious golf camps or indulge in playing Polo in the Santa María Polo Club.

Sotogrande is the most luxurous urbanisation of Cadiz province. It features a Marina, various golf courses and a polo club. All these installation are of prime quality. Moreover, it has an excellent hotel infrastructure.

Casares

Casares is arts, culture and one of the typical white villages in Andalucía. Of Phoenician origine, this villages has a most typical Andalusian atmosphere. It is located on the crossing of two routes between the Sierra de Grazalema, the Serranía de Ronda and Sierra Bermeja.

You reach Casares by taking in Estepone the exit direction Cadiz and before reaching Manilva you will note a road to your right which leads you to Casares. This is the place where Blas Infante, the father of the Andalusian homelnad, was born. From Estepona to Casares it will take you approx. 30 minutes by car.

Casares is since 1978 a historix-artistic complex and a village of narrow alleys, white houses, Andalusian atmosphere and great historic heritage.

We recommend you to visit the castle and the home of Blas Infante, which is now converted into a museum.

Ronda

You encounter this town in the Herat of the Serranía de Ronda, which will spoil you with some marvellous views and monuments. To access Ronda, you take the N340 from Estepona to San Pedro de Alcántara, from here you will find easy signalling for Ronda. This is an approx. one hour ride.

Ronda features, amongst other marvels, the oldest square of Spain, called Plaza de Toros. Another thing which should not be missed seeing is the Tajo de Ronda which is the peak of interesting monuments you will encounter here. Check out the Alameda and enjoy your stay in an authentic paradise.

Ronda is one of Spain’s oldest towns, its origins going back to the Neolithic period. It is fascinating for its Andalusian charms and the surrounding Serranía dressing white peaks during the winter, gives this village a very special flair.

Tarifa

The furthest village from Estepona, approx 70km by N340 direction Cadiz, is nevertheless worth a visit, let alone for its magnificent views to the African coastline.

Tarifa is beach, mecca of kite- windsurf and surf. It is not for nothing called, the town of the wind. Visiting Tarifa is a place for watersport lovers like sailing and kiting. Have a stroll in its old town, see the Castle of Guzmán el Bueno or drive a couple of kilometres further to Bolonia to visit the roman ruins of Baelo Claudia.

Here you can also go on a whale and dolphin excursion. Here are several outlets which travel from March to Ocotber 3-6 times a day, out to the Straights of Gibraltar to view cetaceous.

Castellar de La Frontera

Castellar is surrounded by the Nacional Park of the Alcornocales, at 20km from Sotogrande, direction La Sierra and apprx. 50 km from Estepona.

De esta localidad destacamos su castillo mozárabe, de 10 siglos de antigüedad, que se encuentra perfectamente cuidado. En Castellar de la Frontera existe una amplia red de casas rurales en el interior de su castillo.

This place is famous for its castle, 10 Centuries old, which is still in perfect state. Inside the castle are a number of very pretty rural houses.

Benahavís

Benahavís is a small town at a distance of apprx. 20km from Estepona.

A small mountain village, it is reached by the N340 from Estepona to San Pedro and at Atalaya a road leads towards the mountains. After approx. 10km you will reach the village. The various festivals and festivities during August attract many visitors.

Benahavís is a synonym for fiestas, most of all for its gastronomy. It has plenty of restaurants to choose from, also barbecues and people come form all over the place to taste the good food here.
