The nature in Estepona has a precise name and that is Parque Natural de Sierra Bermeja, located southwest of the erranía de Ronda, a protected area and unique in the Mediterranean. Here true nature lovers will find their heaven.

Sierra Bermeja in Estepona is a very important location from an ecological point of view. We are amongst the biggest rock bulk in the world, but not just from a geological point of view Sierra Bermeja is an exclusive spota, but from a botanical point of view as well. There is a great diversity in flora that is unique and found only here. The forests are abundant in the bottom areas of the mountain. Around the middle there is an extensive pine forest and futher up you´ll find other varieties of trees giving this area a contrast in color making it so much more beautiful. There are plant species that are in danger of extinction in this area. On the other hand as to what fauna is concerned there are many species to watch if you decide to visit. Mountain goats, migrating birds, voltures, chameleons, etc...all of these you will find in this unique and priveldged location in southern Spain.

Inside the Natural Park of Sierra Bermeja there is the Municipal Park of Los Pedregales, a jewel that each year brings hundreds of persons for the Pilgrimage of San Isidro Labrador, a Saint that has a hermitage in his honor in the middle of this paradise since 1988. There are many rural homes in this area of Los Pedregales where you can enjoy a peaseful holiday in unbeatable surroundings. There are girlls and barbecues to use but they are not allowed during the summer months due to the danger of fires. There are many possibilites of outdoor activities like bike riding, trekking and horseback riding.

On the other hand we must mention that the Parque Municipal de San Isidro Labrador also known as Los Pedregales, is one of the clearest examples of nature in the municipality of Estepona.
