All photographs of Estepona

Estepona is located on the Spanish coast between Marbella and Manilva. It has 50.000 inhabitants and its principal source of income is derived of tourism.

In the east Estepona borders with San Pedro de Alcántara, town next to Marbella, in the west with Manilva, northeast with Benahavis and northwest with Casares.

Estepona is the jewel of Costa del Sol, distant from the masses of Marbella. The offer in Estepona is vast and varied, foremost it is the sun and the beaches which attract many visitors. In total it has 22km of coastline with its beaches of fine sands or gravel.

The majority of the beaches are equipped with all kinas of services for you to enjoy. But, besides of sun and beach, Estepona is culture, as it can count on a great artistic heritage, like archaeological excavations, watch towers, monuments, four museums and two film festivals which are celebrated each year in these parts of the coast. A great advantage is the perfect location of our town. Whilst staying in Estepona, you can undertake visits to other surrounding towns like Casares, hometown of Blas Infante (known as father of the Andalusian homeland), Tarifa, town with long, sandy beaches, el dorado for kite- and windsurfers, Marbella, the golden mile and its luxurious Puerto Banus, Ronda with its Andalusian history and its bullfight arena, which is the oldest in the country, Castellar with its castle, Sotogrande and its infrastructures for playing golf and many more villages, towns and places of interest, which you can reach within an hours drive.

Estepona, equal to the other towns along the Costa del Sol, derived its major economical changes within the last few years. Until the ‘80s, this town was basically living on agriculture, of stock-breeding and fishing. The boquerón Mediterráneo, the sardine, the lemon or avocado were the prime sources of income. Since the ‘80s up to now however, things have changed dramatically, as tourism has taken the place of economic source bringing wealth and great changes to the town.

As far as sport activities are concerned, Estepona can offer some excellent sports installations for either play golf, or for nautical sports or for nature lovers to enjoy the natural environment to go hiking or cycling.

With its excellent net of accommodation, you can rest assured, that whatever kind of place you are looking for your holidays, whether it is an apartment, bungalow, hotel or hostel, you will find a good choice of offers in any of these categories.

For all its changes and modernism, this place preserved the authentic Andalusian atmosphere with its tapa bars in the centre of the town. Should you choose Estepona in the Costa del Sol to be your holiday destination, you will not regret it.
